Scotian Wind Inc. (SWI) was incorporated in Nova Scotia as a Community Economic Development Corporation (CEDIF) in 2012. SWI was a spin-off from Scotian WindFields Inc. (SWFI) who wanted to create a sister corporation that would be eligible to participate in the Community Feed-in Tariff (COMFIT) program that was initiated by the Government of Nova Scotia in 2011.

CEDIFs are a special type of company that have continuous disclosure and financial reporting requirements with the Nova Scotia Securities Commission.

SWI has completed 3 CEDIF share offerings and it currently has about 450 shareholders, the vast majority of whom reside in Nova Scotia. In accordance with the COMFIT requirements, more than 25 SWI shareholders live in each of the counties where our wind energy projects are located. Those shareholders who purchased common shares through our CEDIF offerings received Equity Tax Credits (ETCs) equal to 35% of their investment amount. As long as they retain ownership of those shares, they will be eligible for additional ETCs of 20% and 10% after 5 and 10 years respectively.

Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)

Scotian Wind is a leading, mission-driven renewable energy investor committed to supporting Nova Scotia's transition to 100% clean, locally-produced renewable energy to mitigate climate change and benefit our communities.

SWI's experienced and active Board of Directors subscribe to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. Our company makes a significant impact on improving our environment, and contributes 1% of the gross revenues from our projects to local not-for-profit organizations across Nova Scotia. We have implemented policies to promote good governance and diversity through a strong, independent Board of Directors, and strive to engage all of SWI's stakeholders in our decision-making—including our investors, our employees and contractors, our communities and rights holders, and the needs of the environment.
